Akshardham Temple at a glance
The Akshardham Temple in Delhi is a large temple complex with a main mandir, exhibition halls and an evening water show. Entry to the grounds and the darshan is free and needs no booking, while the exhibitions and the water show are ticketed separately. The temple is closed on Mondays and opens Tuesday to Sunday, and its metro station, Akshardham, is about 350 m on foot from the entrance.
For a visit that fits the evening show, plan the day around sunset and read the rules on electronics first. You can combine the temple with a city tour, and the things to do page shows what else to see. For the metro, see the Delhi metro page.

Our picks: Akshardham tours
Our take: Both tours bring a guide and hotel pickup. Choose the private temple tour if you want the show ticket or dinner as an option, and the car tour if the private transfer matters more.

Guided Akshardham visits with a ticket option for the water show, plus evening city tours, with live prices and availability.
The water show
After sunset, in Hindi.
The water show costs 110 INR for visitors from 12 years old and for seniors, and 80 INR for children aged 4 to 11. Under 4 years old is free. It lasts 24 minutes and is in Hindi, and it starts after sunset. The operator's page says it is currently at 19:30, but sunset changes through the year, so do not treat 19:30 as a fixed time for every season. Confirm the price at the ticket counter before you queue.
Two private tours include a light and water show ticket only as an option. One of them also offers a dinner as an option, and the other includes the temple ticket if you choose it. Both include hotel pickup and drop-off, a guide and water, but you should check what your chosen option lists.
Exhibitions
One combined ticket for three halls.
The operator sells one combined ticket for three exhibitions, with no tickets for single halls: 260 INR from age 12, 210 INR for seniors from 60 and 160 INR for children aged 4 to 11. Children under 4 enter free. The exhibitions run from 11:00 to 20:00 and the ticket counter closes at 18:00. The operator gives about 55, 45 and 15 minutes for the three parts, which adds up to 115 minutes without walking and waiting.
Delhi Tourism still lists 170 INR for adults, and it names an earlier first entry at 09:30, against 10:00 on the operator's page. Use these as a reason to check the price and the time at the entrance on the day.
The mandir takes about 45 minutes according to the operator. You leave your shoes there. The Gajendra Peeth has room for wheelchairs, while the mandir and the Narayan Peeth are not wheelchair accessible.
Phones, cameras and clothing
Mobile phones, cameras, other electronics and bags are not allowed inside, and you can leave them free of charge at the cloakroom, which has size limits. A small handbag, your passport and a wallet are allowed. Bottled water and baby food go through an extra check, so do not assume a complete ban on bags or water. Expect a metal detector and a personal search at the gate.
The dress code is strict: shoulders, chest, back and upper arms must be covered, and underclothes below the knees. A tour with a ticket option asks you to hand in electronics before the temple, so take the cloakroom into account when you plan your time.
Parking is paid, but the tariff is not listed. A wheelchair service costs 100 INR. If you want to add another monument on the same day, the Humayun's Tomb page is one option, but leave room for the cloakroom and the security check.
